Renew Your Mind

Renew your mind as a Christian woman finding peace and spiritual renewal after trauma, resting in sunlight with petals around her, symbolizing healing, faith, and inner transformation. romans 12:2

Renewal is where healing begins.

Changing your life, involves changing your mind. It’s the process of unlearning the lies that pain and fear have taught you and replacing them with the truth of God’s Word.

Trauma distorts how we see ourselves, God, and the world. But as Scripture renews your mind and thoughts, peace begins to take root, and your spirit starts to breathe again.

The enemy’s greatest weapon is deception. He whispers lies like:

  • “You’re not enough.”
  • “God is mad at you.”
  • “You are too broken.”
  • “Nobody will love you.”

But God’s Word says something completely different:

  • “You are chosen and loved.” Ephesians 1:4-5 AMP – “just as [in His love] He chose us in Christ [actually selected us for Himself as His own] before the foundation of the world, so that we would be holy [that is, consecrated, set apart for Him, purpose-driven] and blameless in His sight. In love 5 He predestined and lovingly planned for us to be adopted to Himself as [His own] children through Jesus Christ, in accordance with the kind intention and good pleasure of His will—”
  • You are fearfully and wonderfully made.” Psalm 139:14 AMP – “I will give thanks and praise to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well.”
  • You are safe.” Psalm 91:4 AMP – “He will cover you and completely protect you with His pinions,
And under His wings you will find refuge; His faithfulness is a shield and a wall.”

Renewal is a process of catching the lies, rejecting them, and replacing them with God’s truth — over and over, until peace becomes your way of life. Sometimes, the words or actions of others can leave deep marks on how we think and see ourselves.

But God’s Word gently reminds us: “Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” This is your invitation to step into the healing He’s been waiting to give you.

There is no special formula for how to “live a renewed life.” And your healing journey will look different than the next person’s walk. However, there are some key things you can do to renew your mind and gain a healthier mindset:

  • Read and/or listen to the bible. Remember, we need to replace those lies with the truth.
  • Start consciously taking those lying thoughts captive and replace them with the biblical truth you are learning
  • Journal. Write down your thoughts, feelings, and prayers during this season. It will help cement what you are learning and who you are becoming. If you would like access to free journaling pages from my book, you can access them here.
  • Surround yourself with women who understand and uplift you. Join our private healing community and walk this journey together.
  • Be mindful of the music you listen to, your social media and what you watch on TV. Does it encourage a godly mind or reinforce the lies you once believed?
